Brütsch Elektronik Chairman of the Board of Directors Markus Simmen accepted as a new member of SATW

The Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences SATW has accepted 14 individual members into its network for the current year. Only people with a considerable track record in technical sciences are accepted into this exclusive body. We are delighted to share this honor with our long-standing Managing Director and current Chairman of the Board of Directors and offer our heartfelt congratulations!

SATW - technology for society

The Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences SATW is the most important network of experts in the field of engineering sciences in Switzerland and is in contact with the highest Swiss bodies for science, politics and industry. The network consists of elected individual members, member societies and experts.On behalf of the federal government, SATW identifies industrially relevant technological developments and informs politics and society about their significance and consequences.As a unique specialist organization with a high level of credibility, it provides independent, objective and comprehensive information on technology - as a basis for forming well-founded opinions. The SATW also promotes interest in and understanding of technology among the general public, especially young people. It is politically independent and non-commercial. Individuals who are particularly committed to the goals of the SATW and/or the technical sciences can be elected as ordinary individual members. All members were elected by secret ballot by those entitled to vote under the direction of the Electoral Commission.


Recognition for his many years of commitment in diverse areas

A total of 14 new individual members were accepted for 2024. SATW now has a total of 375 individual members and 9 honorary members. The admission of the new members will be celebrated at the General Assembly on May 13 with the presentation of certificates. 

Markus Simmen is appointed an individual member of the SATW in recognition of his many years of commitment to the further development of a Swiss SME into a major medical technology company, to the promotion of innovation, new technologies and the exchange with universities of applied sciences, including the promotion of young engineers.
